Washed with Tears- Part 3

The third lesson in the campaigner series

Washed With Tears
Lesson 3

Intro Discussion
Today we are going to talk about our most treasured things!  We all have things that we love.  Sometimes that is people and sometimes it’s things.  This is even true for Jesus.

Read Scripture
Washed with Tears (Sinful woman anointing Jesus)- Pages 280-285 in Jesus Storybook Bible.  Located in Mark 14, Luke 7 and John 12.

Today’s Focus
Jesus is the most important person to this woman and she brings her most important thing to him for him to have.

Activity
Provide each friend with:
            Two pieces of paper
            Markers or crayons
Have your friends and leaders draw a picture of their most treasured thing on the first piece of paper.  On the second, have them draw a picture of the most treasured person in their life.

Discussion Questions
·     * Show us your picture of your treasured thing.  Tell us about it and why it is important to you.
·      *Show us your picture of your treasured person.  Tell us about it and why he/she is important to you.
·      *How would others know that these things and people are important to you?
·      *Ask the group to share how they know that a certain person is important to the person who is sharing
·      *How did the Pharisees know that Jesus was important to the woman?
·      *Tell us about some ways that you have shown that Jesus is important to you.

Second Activity
What are some of the ways that we can worship Jesus together as a group?
Provide each friend with two small pieces of paper so that they can write down the group’s answers.  Add these papers to the jars that they made during the first campaigner group.
Take time to engage in the form of worship that the campaigner group has decided upon (sing one song, pray together…)

Pray
Have your friends share ways that they would like the group to pray for them.

Take time to pray for these things as a group, allowing your friends the chance to pray for one another.
